Dallas-Fort Worth ranked second in U.S. for most commercial projects in 2020

Despite the onset of COVID-19 last year, plenty of commercial real estate projects started or continued in North Texas. In fact, DFW ranked second in the nation for most projects underway in 2020, according to a recent ranking by Site Selection magazine.

North Texas had 262 projects in the works at some point last year, according to Site Selection, climbing above Houston which took second place last year. Chicago was once again ranked as the metro area with the most projects underway with 327 in 2020. Houston fell to third with 213 projects, followed by the Atlanta and Indianapolis metro areas. Another Texas metro, Austin, came in at No. 6 with 84 projects underway.

Site Selection magazine calculates its rankings based on its proprietary Conway Data Projects Database, which qualifies projects that meet at least one of three criteria: a minimum $1 million capex; 20 or more jobs created; or 20,000 square feet or more of new space. Read More…
