CEOs have faced unprecedented and ever-evolving challenges amid the pandemic, so the Houston Business Journal is proud to present the honorees for our fourth-annual Most Admired CEO Awards.
In selecting our CEO honorees, a panel of judges looked for characteristics such as contribution to company success, civic involvement, career achievement and more. Our Most Admired CEO honorees are divided into for-profit and nonprofit categories. The honorees represent several of Houston’s prominent industries, with CEOs from health care systems, law firms, real estate firms, arts organizations and more — even a bakery/café.
The judges selected 30 leaders of for-profit companies and 20 nonprofit leaders for this year’s award. The 50 honorees will be recognized in a special section of HBJ’s Aug. 20 weekly edition and at a virtual event via a live stage on Aug. 19.
In the words of RESOLUT RE Vice President, Benny Nguyen:
Following Martin’s appointment as CEO in 2016, our firm grew exponentially. We grew from a local boutique brokerage into a firm with seven offices in Texas, one in Louisiana and one in New Mexico. Martin spearheaded the firm’s rebranding in 2019, and the procurement of additional asset classes and methods of representation. Retail Solutions, a local retail landlord representation platform, emerged as RESOLUT RE, a national brokerage platform, with divisions including office, land, investment sales, and national tenant representation. Martin’s leadership has fostered a significant increase in revenue year after year.
Martin has provided the firm’s employees with additional benefits and built a robust resource infrastructure for the firm’s brokers. RESOLUT RE currently offers health insurance, a quick and efficient payroll process, company events, stock options, tuition reimbursement, intranet, CRM, social media exposure, and successful marketing and research tools. Retention at the firm is high. Employees and brokers express happiness and satisfaction in their positions due to Martin’s guidance and careful consideration.
He is an excellent mentor and has successfully identified, hired, trained, and supported many of the firm’s brokers and staff. Growing brokers from pre-entry level to senior level, many of us (myself included) have been honored with Costar Power Broker and Houston Business Journal Heavy Hitters awards in recent years.
Martin is furthermore a very down to earth CEO. Despite his busy schedule given his position, he maintains an open-door policy. Anyone, broker or employee, is encouraged to stop by his office anytime to ask for advice and guidance. He is the second-best basketball player at the firm and the second-best ping pong player in our Houston office (though he might not concede to second place regarding the latter).
Prior to the pandemic, Martin’s annual Halloween party at his home in Sugar Land, TX, was a fun event he often invited employees and brokers to attend. We all looked forward to this event every year. He is a husband, a father of three, and a youth baseball coach for his son’s team in Sugar Land, TX.
Martin plays a central role in defining our firm’s culture and values.
